Mind & Body
Yoga
Through practicing yoga, a person can hope to achieve the integration of body, mind and spirit.
Rather than being about trying difficult poses, yoga is the practice of exercise, breathing and
meditation. With regular yoga practice improved health can be achieved as the exercises improve
circulation and the respiratory system. Yoga is great for improving strength, flexibility, balance
and body awareness.
FunFit’s yoga teachers design classes specifically for the age group they are teaching. For
younger students, many fun games are included in the session to keep them interested as it is
more difficult for children to quieten the body and the mind. This makes for a fun and accessible
class for all ages.
Pilates
Developed in the 1920’s and increasingly popular today, the pilates method aims to create a balance in the body and involves a series of exercises derived from callisthenics, ballet and yoga. During a pilates session, different exercises are performed in repetitions of 5-10 with a concentration on breathing and abdominal control. This activity helps to improve strength, flexibility, balance and body awareness.
Aerobics / Sport Aerobics
Drawing from traditional aerobics movements, these classes are high energy and a great
cardiovascular workout. FunFit’s aerobics classes are modified to suit different age groups
and include fun games for younger students and more complicated routines for older students.
In our aerobics classes a routine will be gradually taught by adding different movements together.
The students can then perform the routine without requiring the teacher to lead them.
Sport Aerobics is a competitive sport where participants complete a 1min 45sec high impact aerobics
routine to fast music. The routine also includes strength, flexibility and power skills that are
borrowed from gymnastics.
Our teachers can teach a one-off class that provides a basic introduction to this sport or are
available to work with a school on an ongoing basis and prepare teams for competitions.
Tai-Box
A very popular fitness class in gyms, tai-box is a combination of aerobics and martial arts, with participants performing punches and kicks in time with the music. Like an aerobics class, participants are taught routines by adding different moves together. This is a non-contact, high energy activity that students get a kick out of!
